About me

My name is Ava Ichaporia and I am a trained professional counsellor. I have completed an MA in Counselling from the University of East Anglia in the U.K. This was a rigorous program based on the person centred counselling approach. In order to qualify I saw clients at the counselling service at the University where I continued to see clients post qualification. I have dealt with clients presenting a wide range of issues from depression, anxiety to abuse, grief and relationship problems. I have also worked with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and religious identities. My current and further interests are in the field of depth psychology which includes integrating the concepts of Carl Jung into my therapeutic work.

In addition to this training I did a Diploma in Counselling from CYDA Pune, which was in association with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai. Prior to becoming a counselling I have volunteered on helplines providing support to students as well as people who are survivors of abuse. I also hold an MSc degree in Environmental Policy from the London School of Economics in the U.K. I have also worked as a researcher in an N.G.O working on gender equality issues.

Currently I work in private practice seeing clients in Mumbai and online. I have conducted workshops and teaching sessions on various aspects of counselling at CYDA Pune and the Nanihi center, Pune.
